Phenomenal! We have never seen a crew work so hard in our lives. Julio and his crew managed to completely refresh our property on 5 acres with extensive work too lengthy to detail here.
We absolutely had to have the job completed by 30 March 2011 as our first showing was on the morning of 31 March 2011 for a few dozen Realtors. We have used Green Retreats Landscaping for 1 1/2 yrs now at our property in Sacramento, and new they were the only choice for this huge job in Vacaville.
They went above and beyond our expectations. Each day they arrived promptly at 9 am and worked until 6:30 or 7:00 pm, with only a brief pause for lunch. In their 3 days on our property they accomplished more than we could have done in 2 weeks.
On the last day, Julio had some trouble with his work truck. His family made a sacrifice that day for us to make sure our job got completed on time by letting Julio and his crew bring the family car to our home (meaning the family had no transportation of their own that day). I don't know anyone else who would do that to satisfy a client.Green Retreats Landscaping is the absolute best. We've now used them for 2 huge projects as well as ongoing maintenance for our Sacramento home and we could never imagine trusting anyone else.

Green Retreats - this is the second posting. It has now been one year- and I have signed up for another year - of Lawn Care. Fair - Rates.....very fair- and AWESOME - customer service. Julio - make sure - your lawn is well taken care of - and if you need anything else - all you have to do is talk to him. Last year he did my sod- and I posted on Angies list also....great job. If you want to do business with a honest and fair company- for many years to come- or only one time - Green Retreats is your company-I will use - no one else...

Julio Solis and his crews completely removed all of the old sod and the top 1.5 inch or so of soil, removed some plants, ivy, shrubs, and rock from about 6,600 sq. ft. of yard. He installed a complete new irrigation system with 4 lawn valves and 5 drip irrigation valves, added about 100 feet of drainage lines, built and installed three 4 by 8 foot raised garden beds, added about 35 yards of top soil, 26 yards of mulch, rototilled, installed 255 linear feet of mowstrip concrete curbing, and installed about 3900 sq ft of new sod. He also installed about 2700 sq ft of commercial grade weed blocker, planted new plants, and spread black bark in all the planting beds. In addition, he also installed about 200 sq. ft. of flagstone walkway with 3 steps going down to our pool deck.
My wife and I enjoyed working with Julio from start to finish. His approach is very friendly, his work very professional, with every effort made to complete the work on schedule and done well. Julio's crews were well mannered and never left a mess of any kind. We have been hiring Julio to provide twice monthly yard service since the landscaping project was completed. He gives us very good service for a very competetive price.

Approx. 400 sq ft of old landscaping removed. Area leveled and graded. Old brick planter and bush removed. Design drawn for new landscaping. Area replanted with new landscaping, weed barrier and mulch. Bender board border installed. Drip system for landscaping installed, including new valve. Rotten pipe for hose bib replaced. Dilapidated irrigation system restored to perfect working condition. Old 1000 sq ft lawn removed and new sod installed. All materials and supplies provided by contractor.
This was our second time working with Green Retreats Landscaping. Just like the first time, Julio and his crew were great throughout this project. We met with Julio at the site and discussed the project in detail. Julio is very pleasant and easy to talk to. He listens carefully and asks all the right questions to ensure a clear project plan. Once the project began, Julio�s crew arrived as planned each day, and worked tirelessly, completing the project well within schedule. The crew is very friendly as well. This project involved removing a large area of unsightly old landscaping, which required removing a lot of dirt to level out the ground. Before beginning demolition, Julio contacted the city and utility companies to have them come out to mark any sewage, water, power or gas lines to make sure nothing would be damaged. In the process of leveling the area, they found a pipe that was in very bad shape. Julio checked with us first and got our approval before removing and replacing it. We asked him to make sure the sprinkler system worked adequately to preserve the new landscaping and lawn. The system now works perfectly. He also programmed the timer to the optimal setting to ensure that the new sod would thrive. Any changes/additions to the original contract were discussed in advance, and we were provided with an updated contract. My wife and I didn�t have a very clear idea of how we wanted the new yard to look, so we asked Julio to draw out a design for us. Working from our list of desired plants, Julio created a beautiful design, and after we approved it, he went and picked up all of the plants, stones, soil and mulch. We were at home through much of the project, and could see the hard work, thoroughness and attention to detail the whole crew put into the project. Our new yard looks amazing, and we have received many compliments and congratulations from our neighbors. I would recommend Green Retreats, and I would definitely choose to work with them again. Wow-Proffessional to max. I wish I would have called this company years ago. Julio and his crew cleaned up my yard/planters like they have never been cleaned. Sod in back yard- is awesome. Workers are pleasant and polite. All areas cleaned up- liked they had not even been their. I have hired Julio- to do my lawn care also. Cheaper than my last gardner and he has services where you can pay for - and they will do more...Talk about taking care of the customer- This Company knows how to do it. Do yourself a favor and call and check them out.

Since we are located out-of-town, it was critical we use someone trustworthy to perform this work. We did our homework and found Green Retreats Landscaping through Angie's List.
This was a completely satisfying and seamless job even though it was a HUGE one! Julio and Amber are an absolutely fantastic pair who coordinated everything perfectly. Julio showed up right on time when we asked for an estimate, figured out exactly what needed to be done and sent us a bid promptly. Julio is the ultimate professional in landscaping and a perfectionist. The front yard needed completely new sod that Julio installed immaculately. The lawn now looks almost too good to be real. In addition the irrigation system was probably easily 50 years old (all metal pipes) with no water pressure control and improperly placed heads (those that were functioning). The completely new irrigation system (PVC) now has water pop up and drips located in logical, efficient positions and is on an automatic timer. This last part was not simple since the detached garage only had one active outlet that was located in a fairly inaccessible location. Julio coordinated with an electrician to install an outlet in a perfect location for the automatic timer.
Throughout the entire process both Julio and Amber kept us apprised of progress. During the project it was discovered that a plumber was needed to convert some galvanized pipe to PVC (requiring a special tool) and that a couple more valves were necessary for irrigation pressure. Amber sent us the additional invoice that was at cost of plumber and material for extra valves, but no additional labor was charged for this unexpected work.
We would HIGHLY recommend Green Retreats Landscaping for any work you might need, including maintenance. If we could give them and A+, we would!

Excavated our yard and installed a significant amount of pavers, repaired old sprinkler systems, and replaced a masonary wall. Also did some brick work, both repair and new install. Very old plumbing was a challenge and Julio adapted to our needs very professionally and courteously. Finished product exceeded our expectations and we're enjoying our new back yard!

A total of 9 very large bushes were pruned by hand. The bushes were close to 12' high and quite wide. Julio and an assistant arrived early in the morning to begin the job. I had explained what I wanted at the time of the estimate, however, we again reviewed my expectations. Julio listened carefully and then they proceeded to lay down a canvas cover in the area they would be working. It was a tedious job since it was being done with non-electrical equipment. There are 4 bushes on one side of my yard and 5 on the other. They were meticulous to make them the same size and they did an excellent job. I would definitely hire Green Retreats Landscaping again.

Killed and removed grass to create two new shrub/flower beds, a total of approx. 976 square feet. Installed benderboard edging, 2" topsoil, graded and created low mounds and treated with a pre-emergent. Installed lines for drip irrigation. Julio came at the appointed time to check the scope of the work and emailed his estimate. We emailed and spoke by phone several times to fine tune what needed to be done, and he offered ways we could rein in costs. After we agreed on both work and cost, Julio came twice to spray the lawn areas, then a few days later he and his crew began work. The project took two days, during which the workers were diligent, very competent, and unfailingly polite. When they were done they cleaned up so well that, except for the new empty beds, we couldn't tell anyone had been there. Altogether a wonderful experience!

Julio checked out my whole sprinkler system and gave me his take on what would need to be done to get it to work well and the cost. He found some sprinkler heads that I did not even know were there and found two leaks in the piping leading to sprinkler heads. The front leak was substantial, but I had not caught it since the system goes off at night. He replaced about ten of the sprinkler heads and repaired the leaks. I had had other companies come before and none of them got the whole picture and generally charged me as if they had done the whole job I wanted done. But that never panned out. By contrast, Julio was everything anyone could wish for in getting home maintenance done. He even took $30.00 off the total price because he had not correctly diagnosed the full extent of the problem in one corner of the front lawn, although I don't know how he could have known without digging up the whole corner ahead of time. He arived promptly, worked diligently, was consistently courteous and friendly and very knowledgable. I would recommend him highly to anyone.

I went into the project knowing only that I wanted to remove everything and start from scratch ending up with a drought tolerant and low maintenance yard. Julio met with me, offered suggestions, created a design and then worked with my ideas and suggestions to finalize it. The work itself took about two and a half weeks. His crew was very polite, cheerful, and professional. Julio was here daily to supervise and keep me updated with any changes that needed to happen. The end product was absolutely beautiful and I appreciated Julio's suggestions to add a small retaining wall and steps to the front yard. They were just the right touch. My neighbors and friends have all been extremely complimentary of my new yard and I find it a pleasure to see it every day.

Julio showed up on time to provide an estimate for replacing grass, adding flagstone and DG in my backyard. The estimate for that work was so reasonable I decided to add my side yard to the work. Julio came back out to provide an estimate for removing grass, adding keystone blocks and top soil and converting part of my sprinkler system to drip. Julio and his guys were very nice and worked fast. The flagstone in the backyard matched my patio almost perfectly and the colored grout topped it off. As the work went on Julio suggested added drainage that worked out perfectly when it recently rained. I am very happy with all the work completed by Green Retreats.

My wife and I searched for a reliable company that would meet our expectations and the price we could pay..Julio and his wife came and showed us books with different plants and palm trees we could go with..They were very knowledgeable and very happy to help and answer any questions we had. We came up with a good plan with a tropical look and some concrete work done around my pool in the backyard. They were upfront about everything never cutting corners in any way.
When Julio and his crew started they were here on time every day at 7:30 am or before.That alone makes me happy..They completed the project in 3 days and it was alot of work..Being that I've spent half my life in the Marine Corps I have a thing about cleanliness being on time and biggest of all integrity..They did not leave one thing wrong or dirty and it was more than I could ask for..He installed valves I did not know even existed on each plant and tree very nice and there quality of work is top notch from the whole crew.He could probably saved himself money with different set up for watering but he didn't they put in a great system for us..We are very very happy with Green Retreats work I would not hesitate to send anyone I know there way..I'm going to have them probably do weekly maintenance to my grass and trees just because I feel so confident that they will continue to make us happy and keep my yards as perfect as they can be.

We needed our front and back lawns replaced before putting our house on the market. I found Green Retreats Landscaping on Angie's list, and decided to call for a quote. I spoke with the office manager (can't remember her name now) who was polite, professional and thorough. She stated that Julio would be out that evening to provide a quote. Julio arrived as promised, and was pleasant, professional and very clear and easy to work with. He provided an estimate on the spot, and followed up with a written contract in a couple of days. On the day of the job, Julio and his crew arrived bright and early and got to work immediately. The job was done promptly and the results were spectacular. The GRL crew did all the clean up and haul away of dirt and other debris, and left the site looking cleaner than when they arrived. Before leaving, Julio provided some tips on how to care for the new lawn to make sure it would flourish. It s been a week and half now, and the lawn is thriving and couldn t look better. As a side note, our house went on the market about a week later, and we received a full price offer the very next day. Who knows how much the beautiful yards factored in, but there s no doubt that they helped. We will definitely use GRL again when the need arises, and may call them for maintenance on our new house. Comments: All prep and finishing work for laying 300 square feet of flagstone path and seating areas, plus edging, regrading the adjacent soil, and installing bender board around lawn area. Julio and his crew were prompt, responsible, hard working, easy to communicate with, accountable, and, best of all, produced a tastefully arranged flagstone path that looks better than what I had imagined. I already had most materials on hand, and Julio made excellent use of my materials, including stone, sand and small cobble. After many past frustrating experiences of working with contractors, this was a breeze. The attention to detail by Julio and his team was like they were working on their own yard.
